Stoped liking anime back in 2009 until 2010 of may. I watched the original series of Neon Genesis Evangelion and H.O.T.D. Been collecting anime for 2 years so far. Really like ADV and Section 23/Sentai filmwork titles. I'm trying to get used to Funimation titles, But Section 23/Sentai will be my favorite ^_^.
watched the whole series of Clannad (including after story). This was the best anime since Neon Genesis Evangelion, excellent VA's, script, and story. A masterpiece. Going to pick up more anime from Sentai Filmworks, and Section 23 films.
I'm with you on extras. They're awesome, and they need to come back. I'm sure that you've seen the only recent Sentai extra, the commentary on the clannad bluray. Sadly it doesn't seem like the epic extras of yesteryear are coming back soon. Matt Greenfield, cofounder of ADV, says not to hold our breath about them returning. The old adv extras are kinda hard to track down, but they're totally worth it.
ADV was the king of on-disc extras. They had some cool merch and packaging back in the day though. Comparing adv in its prime to Sentai today is depressing.
I'm glad asier holdings put the extra's of princess tutu in there complete collection, though Its in a spindle case they are worth it (loving the commentaries and bloopers XD). Hell, the english dub along with the story is superb.
Sadly most trailers are just openings. I at least need a narrated trailer to get interested in a show. Showing the intro to a show with only the Japanese song lyrics is not a real trailer IMO.
I'm really okay with them, unlike funimation's where they make a theme In there trailers that hooks me in then to find out its not anywhere in the series (ex:heavens lost property)I still snap my fingers to that theme XD). I thought the Bacanno trailer was pretty amazing with the gore and dialogue use.
Viz nabbed Accel. It's simulcasting on Hulu. However, they will only give it a physical release if the streaming numbers are good. Many of their streams have never seen a DVD of bluray release.
Talk about quick XD. Oh well, I will check it out. Need to expand my views in legal streaming companies.
Sorry if my comment on saying, "what about new anime titles" was rude. I did check on the little busters thread which was very enjoyable.
I am surprised sentai picked up, Kids up on the slope, and Nazo no Kanojo X. Now I hope they get Hyouka in the future.
But I must say that, like everyone else I want them to get some old licenses. More like rescue licenses, or old licenses that did not continue like the 2nd season of When They Cry.
Anime Boston looks awesome, wish I went there. Now back to topic for me ^_^. Read More...
That is pretty interesting. I thought the 4 beep method looked & sounded pretty annoying. I did listen to some VA commentaries, my first commentaries I listened to were the Neon Genesis Evangleion Platinum edition commentaries. I really liked Spike Spencer's acting and his talk in the commentary. Plus Matt was awesome not only as a person but as an actor, especially as Hyuga. I think NGE english dub was the english dub that got me quit listening to japanese dub. Though I still watch some titles before they get an english dub, I take into consideration for what the english dub might be. So far, Another will become a very difficult english dub to make IMO. So I think the 4 beep method feels like a big no no, because of the conversations and music that plays that matches the character expression/feelings.
Well, so far. Its been a while since the Funimation trail threat and I can still remember the fear XD. Read More...
Well, school days is the true definition of a stereotypical visual novel/american drama. The main character goes in one relationship, but decides to cheat for a new girl after thinking his previous relationship was tiring. But after rumors spread, other girls want to ask him if its true, but due to him wanting to not believe that he is cheating results in another cheat. In the end, due to peer pressure he breaks up with both her first love and 2nd relationship partner. And decides to have sex with any girl at his school, and some of the girls decide to have sex or sleep with him out of sheer curiosity. In the final 2 episodes, his 2nd relationship partner finds out she is pregnant. In result, all of his other relationship partners stay away from him except his first love which he wants to stay with instead of her 2nd relationship partner.
The ending is too messed up to say, but the male character had it coming. Though I hated yet laughed at how the male character decided to cheat, and I got so depressed when his first love gets bullied. It had such an impact on me and way of thinking of personal relationship/cheating drama shows that IMO american drama shows have never touched upon. But the japanese dub was pretty dull, because of what you say about stereotyped voices. Which made me get annoyed of the Clannad japanese dub.
And Ef~A Tale of Memories/Melodies took a step to show what you should do when caught in relationship issues, or solve... Read More...
I was thinking the same thing. And I kept praying that Ef's ending would not be like School Days ending XD.
Well, I think School Days reminded me of hell of a ton American teen dramas that involve relationships then later exposing them which in result involved the male characters wanting another relationship. The ending was so creepy, yet awesome ^_^.
I was surprised about the english dub, when I look back at the casts previous works I thought none of them compared to Ef. Greg Ayres was very good IMO, probably because I never thought he could play a normal main character so well. Well, as far as relating to characters. Something clicked in my head in the first episode when I saw the 3 main male characters and heard about there background.
The animation was very good with the unconventional sequences, plus the music in the series made it even better. Read More...
Well, i'm okay with that. Well, Lucky Star was a series that I was pretty annoyed about when it came to honorifics for the english dub. Probably because it was a comedy, or because they tried to make a lot of emphasis on them. But in the end, I still like Lucky Stars english dub because of the comedy stuff of Lucky Channel XD.
The only honorifics I'm mostly okay with people saying in an english dub are, "kun", "san" "chan", and "senpai". Honorifics for big sister, brother, or the elderly are pretty annoying so far. Especially in manga (EX: When They Cry T_T).
I wish I seen his expression. Never been to a single convention due to distance and time T_T. But I'm still confused with the whole convention system when I hear about it. Night Raid was great as well IMO.
Well to something Ef relating. I LOVED the music, I automatically bought the legal CD's. I was confused on the whole Australia/Japan setting. Read More...
Well, I decided to watch Clannad after Angel Beats due to people saying it was similar via developers who worked on it and color styles. One thing I had a huge problem was with Okazaki's character look cause it looked like Hinata which gave me both a head hair pull and a laugh. Well I thought Clannad was great because of the setting and Okazaki's character/attitude (I'm going through school but I never thought or maybe cared about my future till now, plus I never had a lot of friends or wanted to communicate a lot), and story. After Story was very good, just leaving with that.
Though a lot of people hate the english dub, I know its there opinions. But I found it to be good because when watching through the japanese dub, the female voice actors did not make me feel for them more than the english dub. Probably because there to Moe or I just like the english cast because they toned down the Moe level voices. But the script for the name pronoun's for a very few number of characters was a little "iffy".
Angel Beats has a lot more recognizable or more relatable characters than Clannad, but there was a lot of flaws in the story because of not enough episodes to show more of the characters and plot. But Clannad has that flaw to but it does not show that much because there in character arc's. Companies can expand the series by releasing songs from a non-reality/existing band from Angel Beats but not making side OVA episodes like episode 14?!... Read More...
After watching that episode, I was thinking, "Does she have the Geass?" XD. But back to seriousness, that was very creepy plus with the use of music. This is a high sound quality headphone recommended series. And I like how the other characters played a bigger role.
I just got the CD for the ending theme.
I think the characters are great, I just wonder if they have big back stories or they will play a major role in future episodes. Read More...
Though the series is not officially released, but I just got it early from rightsuf. Can say my opinion? But I made an unboxing. I really want to say it
