It should be noted some people are having issues with floater disc in the first LE. I think it's the cheap hub on the cases. I believe the only other place I've seen them is Bandai and some of the lower budget releases from some of the lower end companies. Mine came to me still attached but one of the disc was just barely hanging on.

LE 2 looks nice .

I've been following this release to see how the Deluxe LE approach fares for Aniplex in the US.

Noted that Madoka is being streamed subbed on several on-line venues now.

I can't help but root for the Deluxe LE's to not be an unqualified success.

For what they put into the LE's they overshot my value price buy point by a hefty margin. Keep in mind that I bought the Oreimo LE sub DVD release, so my price point for this sort of release is actually fairly generous.

I'm expecting a BD release of the full season, without all the Deluxe LE extras, at an affordable price - eventually.

I'm hoping that the Japanese marketing people look at the sales numbers for the LE's, then think long and hard before releasing anything else in that same fashion.

It would be one thing if they were only releasing LE sets for PMMM, however, AoA covered all bases pretty well in this case.

RE DVD
RE BD
LE BD/DVD combo

Considering the outright popularity of this series, the amount of advertising AoA is pumping into this, the exclusive extras (namely the OSTs, which can't be purchased any other way save for the LE JP BD releases), and the amount of otaku with money, the chance that the LE sets don't sell well and don't sell out is really really small.

I watched the first disc today. Without going in to any details I'm happy with it for the Money I got and will have into it. Music is wonderful and the dub is good in my opinion.

Aniplex USA really has not given us any reason to bet on a full set at a more standard US/Canada price. If they do a full set later I'm betting on more in the $150.00 range. It's really hard to say since none of their other series that were released in the older singles format have gotten a set or any of their other LE stuff has gotten a standard release. I think in the end they basically should not be looked at as a American Company, but more of a Japanese Company releasing and importing titles here that either no one wanted or the Japanese wanted to much for.

A few years ago I'd probably have had a bigger issue with the price, but then again my anime spending has gone way down from what it was a few years ago. I'm pretty much only buying releases from Sentai on a regular basis. The others I'm either not interested in what they are releasing or what I want has been held up for years now.

The music is absolutely fantastic!
Then again, I adore Kajiura's style of composition.

So, the dub turned out well?
I watched ep. 01 on the live stream, and it didn't sell me on the dub, but that's, at least in part, probably because I heard the JP dub first.

With all the talk about the LE's I keep forgetting that Aniplex did put out RE's for BD & DVD. I will say that those do come closer to a realistic price.

It's not that I'm not able to spend money. I've completely stopped some of my other hobbies because of skyrocketing prices. So I have more than enough money that I can spend on Anime.

Still, I can hope for something more reasonable in the future.

In the meantime I'm glad you are enjoying Madoka.

In my opinion one of the better dubs to come out of Bang Zoom in recent years.

Just finished the first DVD myself.
Save for Durarara!! (which I didn't mind, though I wasn't too thrilled about it), I haven't heard a recent BZ dub to make that comparison.

With that said though, this dub actually turned out better than I thought it would.
By ep. 4, the dub definitely hit its stide.
I didn't actually think I would like the dub, since what I saw of it, Cabanos had a certian quality that just grated on me over time.
Now that I'm done with the first four eps. though, I'm actually looking forward to how they handle later episodes.

Watch Puella Magi Madoka Magica on CrunchyRoll!

For those that don't want to or absolutely can't wait until the next DVD/BD to arrive to watch the sub version, Ep. 05 was posted today, which marks the first subbed episode to be legally availible before the DVD/BD.

And due to the release schedule of both, it will finish the sub stream on CR first.
